This north-facing, Vaastu-compliant residence is designed for a single-family dwelling on a linear plot, flanked by neighboring homes on the east and west, with an open plot to the south. The defining feature of the design is the central courtyard, positioned between the front yard and the main living area. Given the Vaastu requirement to place the living space in the north-east corner, entering the home directly from the north-east would compromise the privacy of the residents. To address this, the courtyard acts as a transitional buffer space, allowing the entry to be oriented from the east through the courtyard while still adhering to Vaastu principles. The living area is designed as a double-height volume that opens toward the north, creating an expansive and airy environment. The courtyard flooring is crafted using a curated palette of white marble, wooden-finish tiles, natural Pondicherry stone, and pebbles, adding texture and warmth to the space.
The courtyard’s enclosure is custom-designed with louvers composed of an MS frame combined with natural wood, providing both privacy and a play of light and shadow. The first floor accommodates three bedrooms, a family living area, a study, attached balconies, and a dedicated puja room. The second floor houses a gym, home theatre, lift lobby, powder room, and an open terrace, completing the vertical hierarchy of private and recreational spaces within the home.
